Hello and welcome to MeadoWatch for 2013! We are so excited to start this project when the snow melts and the wildflowers start appearing again. In the meantime, we are actively recruiting volunteers to participate in MeadoWatch. To participate, you must be able to hike 5 miles on the southeast side of Mt. Rainier near the Paradise visitor's center. To be involved, you will first attend an orientation session to become familiar with the science behind MeadoWatch and to become familiar with the protocol for collecting data. On the day you wish to survey, drive up to Mt. Rainier, park at Reflection Lakes, record the phenophases of 10 different species at 9 different locations across 5 miles, and come back to the visitor's center to return your data sheet. If this sounds like fun, and something you would love to be a part of, email us at [email protected]! See you in the meadows!
